About me

Robert Frost
The road not taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

A traveler’s tale.

Hi, I’m Aron Kiss-Simon.

A few years ago, I had a life that looked pretty good from the outside. A career, a relationship, financial stability, and a fairly clear idea of where my life was heading.

But something didn’t feel right.

So I did something that, at the time, felt completely unreasonable: I walked away from almost everything I had built and started traveling.

Not for a two-week holiday.

For a journey with no fixed ending.

From Hungary to Patagonia

Without flying

For the past 20 months, I’ve been making my way from Hungary toward Patagonia, trying to cross a continent, oceans, borders and a few personal limits along the way.

I’ve crossed the Atlantic by sailboat.

I’ve hitchhiked, learned to sail, lived in places I never expected to call home, and traveled through Latin America on a motorcycle.

There have been incredible moments.

There have also been plenty of moments when I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

And somewhere along the way, this stopped being just a trip.

It became a way of figuring out what I actually want from life.

Why kiss the journey?

This blog is where I put the longer version of the story.

Not just the beautiful places.

Not just the motorcycle roads, oceans and adventures.

But the decisions behind them. The mistakes. The doubts. The uncomfortable parts. And the lessons that only seem to make sense after you’ve lived through them.

Because I don’t think travel is really about escaping your life.

I think sometimes it’s about getting close enough to it to finally see it clearly.

So welcome.

Take a look around, follow the journey, and hopefully find something here that makes you want to take a few steps of your own.

The destination matters. But learning to kiss the journey might matter more.
